Corazon Maya Spanish School

Corazón Maya Spanish School is a small family run Spanish school on the outskirts of San Pedro La Laguna. The owners, Antonio and Marta Gonzáles Navichoc, founded the school in March 1998 and have welcomed Spanish language students from more than 30 different countries. All of our teachers have extensive experience in teaching Spanish to foreign students. We have an excellent location in a nice, quiet part of town that allows for an authentic learning experience, yet we are only a 10-minute walk from the restaurants and hotels in the town center.

San Pedro La Laguna is a little town on the shores of Lake Atitlán, Guatemala. Lake Atitlán has been referred to as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. During your time here you will be able to swim and kayak on the lake, hike San Pedro Volcano, explore the various towns surrounding Lake Atitlán, and go on horseback and mountain bike tours in the region. The town of San Pedro has many inexpensive hotels, great restaurants, internet cafes and many travel agencies – and verything you need to enjoy your stay here.

We look forward to seeing you!

what people say about us

I was lucky enough to spend 3 weeks taking Spanish classes here with Edwin and living with a family. I looked at all the other schools in San Pedro and found this one to be the best value and best location. They include activities during the week, a ping pong table and have beautiful classrooms just by the lake. I would recommend this school to everyone!

It is a great Spanish school. My husband and I had a great time. Hospitable family, good teachers, beautiful garden. We will be happy to recommend the school to you.

best language school in San Pedro! it is a terrific atmosphere, a beautiful garden and right on the lake! they have various activities each week! such as walking to the black sand beach, coffee picking (we got to keep some coffee that we picked!) as well as making a traditional food! we made the best tamales, and Tostados you will ever have! they do it right here! I can’t recommend it more, and as a tip, ask for Edwin to be your teacher!

Corazon Maya is a delightful place to study Spanish. The tranquil setting in the gardens by the lake is conducive with fun and relaxed but focused learning. The teachers are dedicated and ready to give instruction based on individual needs and interests. The owners treat their guests like family and intentionally share many aspects of their traditional Mayan lifestyle in a way that is respectful and loving. I can not say enough wonderful things about this place!
